He is also helped by Winston and the Bowery King. The help they give brings bad luck because they need to resign from their positions within seven days. The story continues with John being injured in a desert and turns to work for High Table for the rest of his life.
However, when he arrived in The Continental, he was shot by Winston and it made him fall to the street. Luckily he is not dead and transferred to Bowery King. Those two then come to an agreement to work together to bring the High Table down.
